Hello Spring!

Today I did a photoshoot with my brand new Canon 600D on this glorious day!
These clothes are an idea of what my collection will be for the upcoming Butterfly Foundation Fashion Show.

A BIG thank you to my amazing model Simone! I'm so glad she models for me and not Seafolly. He he!

Enjoy!

No Place Like

A few months ago I worked on a show at Union House Theatre at Melbourne University. The show, No Place Like was about families and how messed up they can be in this day and age, incorperating twists, toasters and apocolyptic themes.
It was so fun to work on with directer Tom Gutteridge and the rest of the UHT crew, not to mention an amazing cast and a crazy, brilliant, young writer.
Enjoy the pics!

Holy Moses!!!!!

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to costume assist on the Washington- Holy Moses music video.
It was totally amazing! I feel so lucky to have gotten to work with some absolutly mind blowing costumes designed by the incredibly talented Amanda Fairbanks!

This shoot was so great to be on. The three litle girls in the clip were totally gorgeous and followed us around all day, trying help where they could, hugging us and saying how wonderful they thought we were! So cute and precious!

Check out the behind the scenes here.

Check out the full video here.

The entire day totally changed the way I view costuming. Costumes have such a huge effect on the final product but they also influence the way the wearer feels in it.
Megan Washington was amazing to work with. She is so down to earth and lnice to wrok with.

After working on such an inspiring clip I dont think anything will ever beat it!

Masquerade

I love making masks. This was the first one I made for a school project back in 2007. I still love it!

Daisy Pulls It Off!

These are just a few pictures I found from a show set in a 1920's boarding school. These uniforms were made in 2 days with a production line of a cutter, pinner, sewer and ironer. It was a very fun 2 days with the girls.

What is Vintage Clothing?

This question is something that I am still constantly researching and understanding. On Facebook there are heaps of these so called "Vintage" stores and more and more popping up everyday! Don't get me wrong, sometimes they sell great stuff but I find that more often then not it seems that most of their items are just old clothes. You might say the vintage clothes are old clothes. Yes they are but Vintage is mostly defined by being made about 30 years or more in the past.

After doing all this research I have come to my own conclusion:
Clothing pre-1920s is antique (approx 90-100 years into the past).
Clothing 1920s-1975 is vintage.
Clothing 1975- 1990 (approx 20 years into the past) is retro.
Clothing from the last 20-25 years is just second hand, quite common and not particularly interesting (but if you have a great piece, hold onto it! - it needs to get older and scarcer).

Hopefully this helps you to discern what is real vintage and where the name vintage is just thrown onto an item on Ebay.
Happy hunting!
